Commission a Mother's Day gift from Sally Young

We Love Mums!
Commission a unique gift for your mum.
This year the day to spoil your mum rotten is Sunday 18th March (although really you should spoil her every day!) So that gives you plenty of time to think of the perfect gift and that’s where I can help!
If you have an idea but lack the skills to bring it to life let me do you sewing / drawing / cutting and sticking J
What about ...a cushion if she’s a bookworm? ...a purse if she loves to shop? ... an apron if she enjoys cooking? Or even just a handmade card – go on, show her you care!
If you are really looking to impress her this year, I have a couple of textile pictures – gorgeous patchwork inspired embroideries with a lovely wintery feel – perfect for this time of year.
Winter Time £89.99
Icing and Frosting £89.99

Happy 2012

Hello and a very Happy New Year!

January is always a busy month - lots to look back on and evaluate from the old year and plenty of plans to make and projects to explore in the new year - but also, I go skiing, which I love! So its a good time!

I took it pretty easy this Christmas - I didn't much fancy the usual annual process of sewing a thousand tree decorations, so I had a break and worked on some specific projects for customers - a few examples are shown below.

So for now, all I can think about is skiing (my new helmet arrived today!), but I'll be back soon with new projects and also new shops on Etsy and Folksy - should be fun :-)

Best wishes for 2012, Sally x

Piles of Leaves

Here is my new studio!

So now that the move is over I am back sewing and selling again.

I am in the process of updating www.sally-young.com, my Folksy shop and my new Etsy shop too. I have my ‘Seasons’ exhibition artworks to sell, although they need to be reframed, and it is proving a challenge to source new frames!

Here is a lovely autumnal image that seems to suit the time of year... Sally x

blue mood

Been quite bored this week – can’t settle to anything. Do you know what I mean, when you just aren’t in the mood for anything? Maybe its the weather – the grey skies are so disappointing, and then when the sun comes out I can’t get out there – need an extra long extension lead for my sewing machine!

Have been making textile bracelets today, in a similar vein to my pictures, but wearable, if you see what I mean. Blue has been the colour this morning...
Watching Gavin and Stacey on dvd – so funny!

My last craft fair?

Happy Birthday to my auntie Fran! :-)

Busy day yesterday at the craft fair at The Mill Race, Walford – bit of a disappointing event, but Andy and I were kept on our toes trying to stop all my products blowing away in the wind. My friend Becky came to join us and it was lovely to see her. Might be my last craft fair for a while though, as they never quite seem worth the effort – I have sworn now to only attend shows that come with a personal recommendation – so if anyone has any suggestions please let me know! Here’s a couple of pics of the stand –

I learn a lot at these shows though, and we decided on some new areas to focus on – I have been thinking about streamlining for while, and this decided it for me. So watch this space – I may have a big sale very soon!

Catching up on admin today, and writing to suppliers and galleries – if you know any shops or galleries that might like to sell or show my work please get in touch.

Thanks!
